Crypto Legal Named Finalist in Two Categories at the 2026 Australian Digital Economy Awards Presented by DECA

For the second consecutive year, Crypto Legal has been named finalists at The DIGIs, the Australian Digital Economy Awards presented by the Digital Economy Council of Australia (DECA). In 2026, we have been shortlisted for both The Blockies Award for Blockchain & Digital Asset Excellence and the Cybersecurity, Risk & Resilience Award.

We are pleased to announce that Crypto Legal has been named a finalist in two categories at the 2026 Australian Digital Economy Awards, known as The DIGIs, presented by the Digital Economy Council of Australia (DECA).

This marks the second consecutive year that we have been selected as finalists at The DIGIs, following our recognition in the previous year’s awards programme. In 2026, we have been shortlisted in two categories that align closely with our specialist work in blockchain forensics, cryptocurrency fraud investigations, digital asset tracing and cybersecurity.

Our nominations are:

  • The Blockies Award for Blockchain & Digital Asset Excellence
  • Cybersecurity, Risk & Resilience Award

These nominations recognise two closely related areas of the digital asset ecosystem: blockchain technology and digital asset investigations, and the cybersecurity challenges associated with financial crime and digital transactions.

The winners of the 2026 Australian Digital Economy Awards will be announced on 27 November 2026 at Doltone House in Sydney, Australia.

Recognised by the Digital Economy Council of Australia for the Second Consecutive Year

Being named finalists for the second consecutive year at the Australian Digital Economy Awards is an important milestone for our firm.

The DIGIs are presented by the Digital Economy Council of Australia (DECA), which recognises achievement across Australia’s digital economy. The awards bring together organisations working across technology, digital innovation and related sectors.

Our selection in two categories for the 2026 programme reflects the relevance of our work to the evolving challenges of blockchain technology, digital asset security and cryptocurrency-related financial crime.

At Crypto Legal, we combine blockchain forensic analysis with legal expertise to investigate suspected cryptocurrency fraud, trace digital assets and examine transactions associated with financial misconduct. Our work requires an understanding of both the technical characteristics of blockchain networks and the legal considerations that may arise when digital assets are misappropriated.

Our finalist status in the 2026 Australian Digital Economy Awards places this work within a wider programme recognising achievement across the digital economy.

We are proud to be included among the finalists selected for the awards presented by the Digital Economy Council of Australia and look forward to the announcement of the 2026 winners.

The Blockies Award for Blockchain & Digital Asset Excellence

We have been named a finalist for The Blockies Award for Blockchain & Digital Asset Excellence at the 2026 Australian Digital Economy Awards, presented by the Digital Economy Council of Australia.

Blockchain technology has transformed how digital assets are transferred, recorded and managed. However, investigating cryptocurrency fraud and tracing misappropriated digital assets can require specialist technical knowledge, forensic tools and a detailed understanding of on-chain transaction activity.

Our blockchain forensics work focuses on analysing cryptocurrency transactions, tracing the movement of digital assets and examining the connections between relevant wallets and blockchain addresses.

In cryptocurrency fraud investigations, this can involve reconstructing transaction flows, identifying intermediary wallets, examining transfers between blockchain networks and assessing interactions with cryptocurrency exchanges and other digital asset services.

Our objective is to establish a clear, evidence-based understanding of the available blockchain data and identify transaction pathways that may be relevant to an investigation.

We apply these capabilities to cases involving suspected investment fraud, cryptocurrency scams, unauthorised transfers and other disputes involving digital assets.

Blockchain analysis does not automatically establish the identity of a wallet controller or guarantee the recovery of cryptocurrency. Nevertheless, a properly conducted forensic investigation can help clarify how assets moved, identify relevant transactions and support decisions about appropriate investigative and legal steps.

Our nomination for The Blockies Award for Blockchain & Digital Asset Excellence reflects the close connection between our work and the specialist knowledge required to investigate increasingly complex digital asset transactions.

Cybersecurity, Risk & Resilience: Our Work Addressing Cryptocurrency Fraud

We have also been selected as a finalist for the Cybersecurity, Risk & Resilience Award at the 2026 Australian Digital Economy Awards, presented by the Digital Economy Council of Australia (DECA).

Cybersecurity and cryptocurrency fraud are closely connected. Digital asset incidents can involve phishing, impersonation, compromised accounts, fraudulent investment platforms, unauthorised cryptocurrency transfers and other forms of cyber-enabled financial crime.

When cryptocurrency is misappropriated, identifying the initial incident is only one part of the investigation. It may also be necessary to examine the subsequent movement of funds, trace transactions across multiple wallets and networks, and identify activity involving cryptocurrency exchanges or other digital asset services.

Our work in blockchain forensics and cryptocurrency investigations addresses these challenges by combining technical transaction analysis with legal expertise.

We investigate the movement of digital assets, analyse available blockchain evidence and prepare forensic findings to help clients understand the transactions associated with suspected fraud.

Where appropriate, our work can support further investigative steps, including the submission of relevant evidence to exchanges, financial institutions and law enforcement authorities. The available options depend on the circumstances of each case, the evidence obtained and the relevant jurisdiction.

Our approach recognises that effective responses to cryptocurrency fraud require both technical analysis and an understanding of the wider legal and financial context.

Being named a finalist for the Cybersecurity, Risk & Resilience Award is particularly relevant to our work at the intersection of cybersecurity, blockchain intelligence and financial crime investigations.

We believe that effective cryptocurrency fraud investigations depend on understanding not only what happened on the blockchain, but also how the available evidence can be used to support appropriate action.

Cybersecurity, Risk & Resilience: Our Work Addressing Cryptocurrency Fraud

How Blockchain Forensics Supports Digital Asset Security

Blockchain forensics plays an important role in investigating suspected cryptocurrency fraud because public blockchain networks record transactions that can be analysed to reconstruct the movement of digital assets.

However, interpreting blockchain data requires more than following a sequence of transactions. Investigators must assess transaction patterns, distinguish between different types of wallet activity and understand how exchanges, bridges and other cryptocurrency services may affect the movement of funds.

At Crypto Legal, our blockchain forensic investigations can include:

Cryptocurrency tracing: Following the movement of digital assets through blockchain transactions and identifying relevant wallet addresses and transaction pathways.

Wallet and transaction analysis: Examining on-chain activity to establish the sequence of transfers associated with suspected fraud.

Cross-platform investigations: Analysing transaction flows involving multiple wallets, blockchain networks and cryptocurrency services.

Forensic reporting: Documenting findings and presenting relevant blockchain evidence in a structured format.

Legal and investigative support: Helping clients understand the potential relevance of the findings and the appropriate next steps available in their circumstances.

These capabilities are particularly relevant to cryptocurrency fraud cases in which funds have moved through multiple addresses or services before the victim becomes aware of the transactions.

Although blockchain transparency can provide valuable investigative evidence, tracing assets and recovering them are different processes. Recovery depends on factors including the location of the assets, the available evidence, the relevant service providers and the legal mechanisms available.

Our work is therefore focused on establishing the strongest possible understanding of the available evidence and supporting informed decisions about the next steps.

Crypto Legal: Blockchain Forensics, Cryptocurrency Investigations and Legal Expertise

We are a UK- and US-based blockchain legal and forensic firm specialising in cryptocurrency fraud investigations, digital asset tracing, financial disputes and related legal services.

We work with individuals, businesses and institutions facing complex issues involving cryptocurrency transactions, suspected financial fraud and misappropriated digital assets.

Our services combine blockchain forensic capabilities with legal expertise, allowing us to examine both the technical evidence and the legal considerations relevant to each case.

Our principal areas of work include:

  • Blockchain forensics: Analysing blockchain transactions and tracing the movement of digital assets.
  • Cryptocurrency fraud investigations: Examining suspected scams, fraudulent investment schemes and unauthorised transfers.
  • Digital asset tracing: Identifying relevant transaction pathways and investigating the movement of cryptocurrency between wallets and services.
  • Forensic reporting: Preparing structured reports based on the available blockchain evidence.
  • Cryptocurrency-related legal services: Supporting clients with legal issues arising from digital asset fraud and disputes.

We recognise that cryptocurrency-related cases can involve several interconnected issues, including technical transaction analysis, financial investigations, evidence preservation and legal considerations across jurisdictions.

Our work is designed to address these issues through a structured investigative approach, helping clients understand what the available evidence establishes and which further steps may be appropriate.

Our selection as finalists in both the Blockchain & Digital Asset Excellence and Cybersecurity, Risk & Resilience categories at The DIGIs 2026 is closely aligned with these areas of specialisation.
